Background

Vera Rowe

Vera Rowe was born and raised in New York City and is a graduate of the La Guardia High School of the Arts and Performing Arts where she was a dance major focusing on classical ballet and the Martha Graham technique of modern dance. Vera also represented Penn State University as a competitive level ten gymnast in the NCAA Division I.

 

Vera is well traveled and has taught, performed and competed all over the USA as well as internationally. She is best known for her dynamic high energy and athletic performances that flow naturally from her dance and gymnastics background.

Uriel Garcia

Uriel Garcia is a native of the Dominican Republic and currently lives in Fort Lauderdale.. He began his professional dance career with “Art In Motion Dance Company” in 2005 and was trained by his older brother, World Salsa Champion, Darlin Garcia. Uriel currently dances with “Calle Luna Dance Company” under the direction of Noel Rodriquez. He is also the Director of his own team, “The Estillo dancers”.

 

Uriel has traveled all over the USA and internationally to compete, perform, and teach and his areas of expertise include fitness/cross-fit, lifts and tricks.  He enjoys helping students of all ability levels to improve their dance skills via individualized instruction.

Uriel Garcia and Vera Rowe are four time World Salsa and Bachata Champions. In a brief two years together, they have traveled all over the U.S. as well as internationally to teach, perform, and compete in places such as Canada, Spain, Australia, Ireland, Italy, Hong Kong and China. Vera Rowe was born in New York City and is a graduate of LaGuardia High School of The Performing Arts where she was a dance major. Aside from being a dancer she was also a USA gymnast for 20 years and competed for Penn State University as a NCAA Division I athlete. Uriel Garcia was born in The Dominican Republic and came to the USA when he was six years old. He was a competitive athlete for the majority of his life, competing in sports such as football, soccer, volleyball, basketball and track and field. Uriel grew up dancing various forms of Latin dance however, he started dancing salsa at the age of 20 and was trained by his older brother, Darlin Garcia. Their most recent accomplishments include becoming The 2014 World Cabaret Salsa Summit Champions, The 2014 World Cabaret Bachata Summit Champions and The 2014 World Bachata Masters Champions. They have also been finalists at The 2012 World Latin Dance Cup, The 2013 Puerto Rico World Salsa Open and The 2013 Hong Kong World Salsa Championships. They are coached by World Champions Billy Fajardo and Katie Marlow and currently reside in Fort Lauderdale Florida, USA.

 

Vera is both talented and versatile, in addition to being a great dancer, performer and instructor, she holds both a bachelors and masters degree in mathematics and was a high school math teacher for six years at The Boston Arts Academy. Uriel is not only exceptionally gifted as a performer and competitor but he is also an excellent instructor not only because of his remarkable skill, but also because he is so approachable. Uriel brings another dimension to the teaching and performing line up on offer.

Vera and Uriel first appeared at Salsa Fiesta in 2014 and thrilled us with exciting and explosive dance performances and workshops. The Organizing Committee is pleased to welcome them both back to Trinidad & Tobago at Salsa Fiesta TnT 2015.
